We’re launching a brand new podcast/videocast to replace the Manage Comics Thoughtstream.
Before we get into Meanwhile, I want to take a moment to celebrate the Thoughtstream. I started it in September 2021 as a way to get the news about Manage Comics out while we were deep in our beta testing. Over the next 16 months, we would release 74 episodes of the Manage Comics Thoughtstream, and they’ll always be available on the Manage Comics Thoughtstream YouTube playlist.
What is Meanwhile…at Manage Comics?
Brian explains – We ran the Manage Comics Thoughtstream for just over a year, it originally started out as a way to quickly explain the things we were doing, and get the message about Manage Comics out. In that year, a lot of different things happened within the industry, and we felt like we needed a way to talk about all of those things.
Meanwhile… was a column that ran in DC Comics during the 1980’s, it was a way for the editorial team to give a bit of a “Behind the Scenes” look at the making of comics, and promote any upcoming projects. I always wanted to do something similar, and I’ve been wanting to do a podcast again since my podcast “Sequential Fiction” ended in 2016.
Meanwhile will grow and evolve over time, but our idea right now is to include a few recurring segments:
The Data Mines – Focused on the data issues we’re dealing with, and what our long term solutions for them are. We’re always working on something data specific, and we want to make sure everyone knows about the issues.
Industry News – Tips and tidbits about the industry. What is happening in the industry, and how does it relate to comic shops?
What’s New at Manage Comics – What are we working on currently? What are we looking to launch next, and in general, where are we going?
Up Next on Meanwhile… Some ideas for what we’ll talk about next episode.
We’re going to try to keep Meanwhile to a tight 30 minutes, and we’ll still do regular live videos to support it. Our ideal will be that you’ll be able to play Meanwhile…as an audiocast without losing anything, so we’ll try to keep visual elements to a minimum, but if we need to, we can always go deep and cut it from the podcast.
It’s just the beginning, so we’ll see where it goes!
